Hayv Kahraman

The multi-disciplinary practice of Hayv Kahraman (b. 1981, Baghdad) examines the experience of the gendered Other. Collective feelings of displacement and colonial violence are investigated through representations of the female body in painting, performance, and sculpture. Kahraman’s work is represented in prominent collections including the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, the Rubell Foundation, and the Barjeel Art Foundation in Sharjah. Based in LA.
